CFB Depth Report - Week 3

Christopher Vizzina → Tait Reynolds (Clemson, QB vs. North Carolina, Sat noon ET)

Clemson's start to the season wasn't exactly as planned even before injuries took their toll.

A lopsided loss to LSU might've spelled demotion for Christopher Vizzina on its own, but now that he's wearing a brace on his non-throwing shoulder, it looks like the Tigers will turn to true freshman Tait Reynolds as they being conference play against North Carolina.

With 11 players listed on the ACC availability report, including two OL and two WR, Reynolds isn't exactly stepping into an ideal situation. The Tar Heels defense, despite some recent turnover on the coaching staff after DC Steve Belichick resigned, ranks 10th in the nation in points allowed.

Reynolds will look to add to the 200 passing yards he managed in a sloppy Week 2 win over Georgia Southern.

Ethan Davis → DaSaahn Brame / Trent Thomas (Tennessee, TE vs. Kennesaw State, Sat 7:45 ET)

After a hot start with a TD in each of Tennessee's first two games, sophomore Ethan Davis tore his ACL against Georgia Tech, and will unfortunately miss the season. It's Tennessee's fifth season-ending injury already.

In his stead, the ascending tight end's reps will likely be split between fellow sophomore DaSaahn Brame and South Alabama transfer Trent Thomas, who have combined for just three catches for 20 yards this year.

Thankfully, the schedule allows for a soft landing as Kennesaw State heads to Neyland Stadium in what should be a breeze for the Vols, full-strength or not.

Devonte Tezino → Traevon Mitchell (Baylor, DT vs. Louisiana Tech, Sat 3:00 ET)

Devonte Tezino is a fifth-year player who was pinned under an OL on the first drive against Prairie View last week and now will be lost for the season, confirmed by coach Dave Aranda on Monday.

Enter Traevon Mitchell (who earned three pressures on just thirteen snaps last week) to lead the rotation with Kamren Washington and Jamaal Whyce Jr likely getting some extra burn, as well.

Mitchell's timing is impeccable as a temporary injunction granted September 15 has ruled him eligible to play the rest of the 2026 season. Still, a 2-0 start now has to survive without its most disruptive veteran up front.
