After an injury-plagued Week 2 of the NFL season, there are some major shakeups in starting lineups heading into Week 3. Let's dive into some of the biggest lineup changes for the week.
Cooper RushMichael Penix Jr. (ATL, QB at Green Bay, Thur 8:15 ET)
After a disastrous start to the year for the Atlanta Falcons offense, Michael Penix Jr. will return to make his 2026 debut after recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered last season.
The Falcons have failed to reach the red zone through two games, but are hopeful that the return of Penix can help them get the offense headed in the right direction.
Dallas GoedertJohnny Mundt (PHI, TE at Chicago, Mon 8:15 ET)
A sprained MCL will keep Dallas Goedert out for at least a few weeks, leaving Johnny Mundt to likely hold down the starting job on Monday Night Football against the Chicago Bears.
However, keep an eye out for Zach Ertz, who reunites with the Philadelphia Eagles after signing onto the practice squad. There's a real chance that Ertz plays some kind of role for the Eagles while Goedert recovers from his knee injury.
Alec PierceLaquon Treadwell (IND, WR vs Houston, Sun 1:00 ET)
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce re-aggravated his heel injury and will be out multiple weeks, regardless of whether or not he seeks surgery once again.
That leaves a void at outside WR for the Colts, and one that journeyman veteran Laquon Treadwell is hoping to fill. The 31-year-old caught three passes for 61 yards in the overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Will JohnsonKei'Trel Clark (ARI, CB at San Francisco, Sun 4:05 ET)
Will Johnson will miss the rest of the season for the Arizona Cardinals after suffering a neck injury. His college and NFL careers have been plagued by injuries, including concerns with a knee injury that caused him to slide out of the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Fourth-year cornerback Kei'Trel Clark will take over CB1 duties in Arizona with a tough matchup this week against the San Francisco 49ers. Clark has played just 19 snaps in two games this season, allowing one catch for nine yards on three targets.
Caleb WilliamsTyson Bagent (CHI, QB vs Philadelphia, Mon 8:15 ET)
Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson told reporters that Caleb Williams is "week to week" with a hamstring injury opening the door for Tyson Bagent to start in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
However, Bagent is currently in concussion protocol, which could lead to third-string QB Case Keenum taking over starting duties in a pivotal NFC matchup.
