Jack Layne is a quarterback for the New Mexico Lobos, standing 6'2" and weighing 209 pounds. Originally from Lake Oswego, Oregon, Layne played at Idaho before transferring to UNM as a redshirt senior in 2025. In his first season with the Lobos, he started all 13 games, completing 213 of 327 passes for 2,486 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions while establishing a UNM single-season completion percentage record of 65.1%. He also rushed for 152 yards and four touchdowns, including a 54-yard run. Layne threw for 344 yards against San Jose State and 342 yards with three touchdowns against UNLV, where he became the second quarterback to throw two 80-yard touchdown passes in the same season.
