Chris Gant Jr. is a safety from Spring, Texas who transferred to New Mexico from North Texas. At Klein Collins High School, he recorded 104 tackles, 7.0 TFLs, and 1.0 sacks during the 2022 season while earning First Team 15-6A All-District honors as both a junior and senior. During his 2024 freshman season at North Texas, Gant appeared in three games and recorded eight tackles before receiving a redshirt. In his 2025 redshirt sophomore campaign with the Lobos, he played in 12 games primarily on special teams, collecting four total tackles including a season-high three against Boise State.
