Zahir Mathis is a 6'6", 222-pound right defensive end for the Maryland Terrapins and a sophomore from Philadelphia, PA. A consensus four-star recruit and the top-300 national recruit rankings selection, Mathis ranked as Pennsylvania's top player and a Top-100 prospect nationally before committing to Maryland over Ohio State, Florida State, Michigan and Penn State. In his 2025 freshman season, he recorded 6.0 sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss while ranking second on the team in sacks. He registered at least a partial sack in seven of 11 games played and posted a career-high 11 tackles and one sack against Illinois.
