Jakob Weatherspoon is a safety from Avon, Ohio, who joins North Carolina as a true freshman. At Avon High School, he earned first-team All-Conference and All-Ohio honors during his prep career. As a junior, he recorded 73 total tackles with two interceptions while helping Avon finish 16-0 and win an Ohio state championship. He added 50 tackles and two interceptions as a sophomore. Weatherspoon also competed in track and field, winning a state championship in the 400-meter dash. He carried a four-star recruiting rating into the 2026 class.
