Matt Kingsbury is a redshirt junior weak-side linebacker for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, standing 6'3" and weighing 230 pounds. From Chicago's St. Rita High School, he was a three-star recruit ranked as the No. 115 linebacker in the country. After redshirting his freshman year in 2023, Kingsbury appeared primarily on special teams during his 2024 sophomore campaign. In 2025, he played in 12 games and recorded 34 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks while recovering three fumbles, one of which he returned for a touchdown. He earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in both 2024 and 2025.
