A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Sutko attended Elkhorn South High School, where he played both linebacker and running back while competing as a sprinter in track and field. In his senior season, he recorded 34 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 1 sack on defense, while adding 204 rushing carries for 1,568 yards and 20 touchdowns on offense.
