The Raleigh, NC native played four college seasons across two programs, appearing in 43 games with 11 starts at NC State (2024-25) and Wake Forest (2022-23). He compiled 77 receptions for 1,121 yards and 9 touchdowns in college. In 2025 at NC State, Grimes appeared in 12 games with 9 starts, recording 29 receptions for 430 yards and 3 touchdowns.
