Ben Wenzel is a true freshman linebacker for the Wisconsin Badgers who hails from Appleton, Wisconsin, where he attended Appleton North High School under coach Robert Salm. A consensus three-star recruit, Wenzel earned all-state honors and was named conference linebacker and defensive player of the year as a senior. He also garnered first-team all-conference recognition as a junior in 2024. Standing 6'4" and weighing 216 pounds, Wenzel competed in track and field and basketball during his prep career.
