Derek Uran is a linebacker for the Virginia Cavaliers. The Cincinnati, Ohio native attended Elder High School, where he played under head coach Doug Ramsey. During his senior season in 2025, Uran recorded 105 tackles, including 23.5 for loss and 9.5 sacks. He earned 2025 Greater Catholic League Defensive Player of the Year honors, along with First Team All-GCL and First Team All-District recognition. Uran also competed in track and field, placing in the state meet in the 110-meter hurdles and setting school records in the 110mH and 4x100m relay. A three-star recruit, he joined Virginia as a true freshman for the 2026 class.
