Sherrod Covil is a safety for Virginia Tech who transferred from Clemson. A four-star recruit from Oscar Smith High School in Virginia, he committed to Clemson in June 2021 and enrolled in January 2022. During his freshman year in 2022, Covil recorded 16 tackles, including one for loss, over 13 games. He appeared in eight games in 2023 before suffering a season-ending injury in November, accumulating 13 tackles and a pass breakup. In 2024, his final season at Clemson, he made seven tackles against Appalachian State and started at Florida State, adding multiple tackles and pass breakups across the schedule. Covil has played in four games for the Hokies in 2025, making one tackle.
