Messiah Mickens is a true freshman running back for Virginia Tech from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. A four-star recruit and the nation's No. 13 overall running back prospect, Mickels was a two-year captain at Harrisburg High School under coach Calvin Everett. During his junior season, he accumulated 1,214 rushing yards with 21 touchdowns across 14 games while adding 17 receptions for 235 yards and 2 touchdowns. As a freshman, he rushed for 1,078 yards and 19 touchdowns on 16 receptions for 200 yards. Over his high school career, Mickels amassed over 4,500 scrimmage yards with 64 total touchdowns and earned 2024 Gatorade Player of the Year honors in Pennsylvania.
