Jonathan Pennix is a right cornerback from Concord, VA who attended Appomattox County High School, where he lettered four years and served as team captain. He was a 3-star recruit rated by multiple outlets. Pennix redshirted his freshman year at Virginia Tech in 2023, then played in 11 games the following season primarily on special teams, registering two tackles and recovering a fumble versus Minnesota. He transferred to Southern Miss for the 2025 season, appearing in all 13 games and recording 20 tackles, two interceptions, and six pass breakups while playing 472 defensive snaps. Pennix now returns for his junior season at Troy.
