Ethan Malafa is a 6'6" tight end from Cincinnati, Ohio who transferred to Toledo after attending Butler University. At Mariemont High School, he was a three-year starter and earned All-Ohio, all-district, all-league and all-city honors as a senior, while also competing in basketball and baseball. During his time at Butler from 2022–2025, Malafa redshirted in 2022, appeared in two games in 2023, played in 10 contests as a blocking tight end in 2024, and recorded six receptions for 66 yards and one touchdown in 2025. He is a Communication major and enters the 2026 season as a senior at Toledo.
