Will Hammond is a redshirt sophomore quarterback for Texas Tech who hails from Hutto High School in the Austin area. A consensus four-star recruit, Hammond arrived on campus in January 2024 and earned the backup role despite redshirting that season, appearing in four games with one start in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl versus Arkansas. In 2025, Hammond appeared in eight games with two starts before a knee injury ended his season. He completed 68 of 108 passes for 668 yards with 7 touchdowns and 3 interceptions while adding 43 carries for 299 rushing yards and 5 rushing touchdowns. Hammond earned Big 12 Freshman and Offensive Player of the Week honors following a relief performance at Utah on September 20, completing 13 of 16 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns.
