Sam Mattingly is a 6'2", 235-pound inside linebacker for Stanford Cardinal. A three-star recruit from the 2024 class, he attended Magnolia West High School in Magnolia, Texas, where he recorded 282 total tackles at the varsity level along with 18 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. He made his collegiate debut against TCU on August 30, 2024, and appeared in nine games as a freshman, earning ACC All-Academic Team honors. In 2025, Mattingly played all 12 games for the first time, recording 23 tackles including 16 solo tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. He posted a career-high five tackles at No. 9 Miami on October 25.
