Matt Rose, a 6'2" 230-pound linebacker from Brecksville, Ohio, joined Stanford as a three-star recruit in 2022. He redshirted his freshman year, then appeared in all 12 games as a sophomore in 2023, compiling 15 total tackles. During his junior season in 2024, Rose made his first collegiate start against Louisville and set career highs with 32 tackles, 17 solo tackles, and 3.5 tackles-for-loss across 12 appearances. In 2025, his redshirt senior campaign, he played all 12 games with 11 starts and led Stanford with 106 total tackles, 49 solo tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, three sacks, three passes defended, and one fumble recovery. Rose earned All-ACC First Team honors from analytics services and All-ACC Second Team from the Coaches, while also receiving the Jack Huston Award and Frek Rehm Award.
