Lucas Shanafelt is a true freshman outside linebacker for Stanford Cardinal wearing number 41. The 6'4", 235-pound native of McMurray, Pennsylvania, played at Peters Township High School under head coach TJ Plack, where he earned three varsity letters in football. A consensus three-star recruit and top-five outside linebacker prospect in Pennsylvania, he recorded over 65 tackles, 7 sacks, and 3 interceptions as a senior, including two returned for touchdowns. He also caught 29 passes for 500 yards and four touchdowns at tight end. Shanafelt served as team captain, earned All-State honors and First Team All-WPIAL recognition at both positions, and helped lead Peters Township to an undefeated season that culminated in the PIAA championship game.
