Josh Johnson is a 6'0", 320-pound defensive lineman from New Orleans, LA, who attended Catholic HS in Baton Rouge before transferring to Southern Mississippi from Nicholls. At Catholic, he earned All-District Second Team honors and helped the Bears capture back-to-back state championships as a sophomore and junior. Johnson redshirted during his freshman year in 2023. In 2024, he appeared in all 12 games with four starts, recording 27 tackles (8 solo), 1.5 for loss, a half sack, two quarterback hurries, and a pass breakup. During the 2025 season, he played in 10 games and totaled 36 tackles (13 solo) with a half sack for four yards, including a season-high six tackles against UTRGV.
