Patrick Crayton Jr. is a redshirt freshman quarterback for Rice who hails from Lewisville, Texas, where he attended Hebron High School. As a senior, he was named District 5-6A Offensive MVP after throwing for 2,254 yards and 22 passing touchdowns while rushing for 677 yards and 15 scores. In 2025, Crayton appeared in three games while preserving his redshirt status. He made his debut against Prairie View with two rushing carries for five yards, then entered the UTSA game following injuries to other quarterbacks. Against the Roadrunners, he completed 3 of 4 passes. In the Armed Forces Bowl, he finished 4 of 9 for 70 yards, including a 54-yard completion to Payton Matthews and a 1-yard shovel pass to Aaron Turner on a touchdown drive.
