John Gores is a 5'6", 175-pound kick returner from Fargo, North Dakota, who attended Shanley High School as a three-time starter and team captain. He redshirted in 2022, then appeared in four games as a freshman in 2023, rushing five times for 41 yards against Western Illinois. In 2024, Gores played in eight games and caught seven passes for 126 yards and three touchdowns, including a 12-yard scoring reception against Tennessee State. During the 2025 season, he appeared in 12 games for North Dakota State, recording one reception for eight yards and two kickoff returns averaging 18.5 yards. Gores has been named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference Honor Roll multiple times and earned the MVFC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award.
