Byron Nelson is a right guard for North Carolina who enrolled early as a three-star prospect from Katy High School in Katy, TX. Standing 6'3" and weighing 300 pounds, Nelson was a four-year letterman on the offensive line at Katy, where he started 20 varsity games and allowed only one sack. He earned first-team all-district honors and served as a team captain. As a senior, he helped lead Katy to an 11-2 record and a state championship game appearance while blocking for an offense that averaged 229.1 rushing yards per game and scored 36 touchdowns. Nelson is a returning member of the Tar Heels roster.
