Jalen Charles is a 6'3", 245-pound defensive end from Manvel, Texas, where he lettered at Manvel High School. As a prep prospect, he recorded 80 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, an interception, three forced fumbles, and 34 hurries, earning First Team All-District honors and posting the second-most sacks in school history. Charles arrived at Memphis as a three-star recruit ranked No. 134 overall from Texas and No. 55 among EDGE rushers nationally. He redshirted during his freshman season in 2024 without appearing in games and did not see action in 2025. Now a redshirt sophomore transfer, Charles joins New Mexico as a prospect majoring in liberal arts and integrative studies.
