Derek Wacker is a 6'1", 230-pound weakside linebacker from Yutan, Nebraska, currently a redshirt sophomore at Nebraska. He redshirted in 2024 before appearing in all 13 games during the 2025 season, primarily on special teams. Wacker recorded five total tackles, including stops on kickoff coverage against Akron, Maryland, and USC. He recovered a fumble on a kickoff against Iowa that led to a Husker field goal and forced a fumble against Houston Christian. At Yutan High School, Wacker was a two-way contributor who helped the Chieftains reach the state playoffs all four years, finishing his senior season with a 9-3 record and state semifinal run. He earned first-team all-state honors at linebacker and totaled 173 career tackles with nine sacks.
