Samuel Madu is a defensive back for the Minnesota Golden Gophers who hails from the Bronx, New York, and attended Archbishop Stepinac in White Plains. A consensus three-star recruit, he was ranked as the No. 5 prospect in New York and No. 54 corner nationally by recruiting services. In high school, Madu recorded 50 tackles and one tackle for loss as a senior, along with 19 pass breakups, one interception, and one fumble recovery while allowing no touchdowns. He earned First Team All-State, All-County, and All-League honors. Madu redshirted in 2024 after appearing in two games against North Carolina and Rhode Island. He played in 2025 and was named Academic All-Big Ten. Now a redshirt sophomore, Madu is a returning letter winner for the program.
