Dontay Joyner is a 6'0", 180-pound nickelback from Lakeland, Florida who transferred to Maryland from Arkansas State. At Arkansas State across two seasons, he appeared in 24 games and recorded 69 tackles (45 solo), two interceptions, and nine pass breakups. In 2024, he tallied 50 tackles (33 solo), seven pass breakups, and two interceptions against Power Four opponents while earning an 81.0 defensive grade per analytics services. In his 2025 junior season at Maryland, Joyner started all 12 games and led the team with eight pass breakups while recording 40 total tackles, two interceptions, and one interception return touchdown. He earned 2025 Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors.
