Ty Sims is a freshman free safety at Jacksonville State standing 5'8" and weighing 173 pounds. From Gadsden, Alabama, Sims played running back and defensive back at Gadsden City High School, where he was named 2025 All-State. In his senior season, he accumulated 174 rushing yards and seven total tackles while recording five touchdowns. He had three touchdowns in a game against Fultondale, including one rushing and two receiving, in a 42-0 victory.
