Luke Gaffney is a redshirt senior linebacker for the Iowa Hawkeyes who hails from Robins, Iowa, where he attended Linn-Mar High School. At the prep level, he earned first-team all-state honors as a senior and was a two-time team captain. Gaffney redshirted in 2022 before seeing limited action in two games during 2023. He appeared in all 13 games in 2024, recording his first career assisted tackle in a win over Northwestern, and earned Academic All-Big Ten recognition. In 2025, Gaffney played in 11 games, posting one pass break-up against UMass and one assisted tackle in the ReliaQuest Bowl versus Vanderbilt.
