Montreze Smith Jr. is a weakside linebacker from Carrollton, Georgia, who played at Carrollton High School as a four-year letterwinner. He redshirted at Duke in 2024 after appearing in four games. Smith transferred to Austin Peay for the 2025 season, where he saw action in 12 games with 10 starts. He recorded 74 tackles, including 8.5 for loss, four sacks, three interceptions, and one forced fumble. Smith earned FCS Freshman All-American honors, was named UAC Freshman of the Year, and was selected First Team All-UAC. He is now a transfer to Iowa State.
