At Magnolia HS, he recorded 83 tackles as a senior along with 3.0 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 2 pass breakups, earning first-team all-district honors. Standing 6'2" and weighing 195 pounds, Covar chose Houston for its proximity to home and the opportunity to play. His brother Tyler also competes for the Cougars.
