Tyler Covar is a linebacker for the Houston Cougars who hails from Magnolia, Texas, where he attended Magnolia High School. A three-star prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, Covar recorded 133 total tackles and 55 solo tackles during his senior season, adding 9 sacks and 8 tackles for loss. He also registered 5 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, and 1 defensive score in 2025. Covar earned 2025 District 15-6A Defensive MVP honors and All-District 15-6A First Team selection. He chose Houston as a true freshman because of his hometown connection and the coaching staff. His twin brother, Tanner Covar, also plays football at UH.
