Matthew Mason is a 6'3" safety for the BYU Cougars. The Las Vegas, Utah native arrived as a three-star recruit in the 2026 class with a composite rating of 0.8778, ranked 745th overall. Mason recorded 313 total tackles during his high school career, including 25 tackles for loss and four sacks. He accumulated four interceptions and 31 passes defensed, while returning 500 kickoff yards. Mason earned First Team-All League and All-State honors in 2025, along with Special Teams Player of the Year recognition that year. He was also recruited by Arizona State, Boise State, Oregon State, Utah State, and Washington State.
