Carsen Burckhardt is a redshirt freshman linebacker at Ball State who transferred in from Valparaiso as a walk-on. The 5'10", 223-pound native of Long Lake, Minnesota, attended Orono High School, where he earned four letters and competed in basketball and track and field. During his senior year, he recorded 12 tackles and one forced fumble in a state semifinal game as Orono finished 10-3. Burckhardt spent the 2025 season at Valparaiso redshirted with no game action.
