Corey Wells is a true freshman nose tackle from Petal, Mississippi, standing 6'5" and weighing 325 pounds. At Petal High School under coach Marcus Boyles, Wells recorded 36 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks during his senior season, earning inclusion on the Clarion-Ledger's Dandy Dozen. He finished his junior year with 21 tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss across 10 games. Wells also competed in track and field, throwing the shot put.
