Jake Bates is a placekicker for the Detroit Lions, entering his fourth NFL season after playing college football at Arkansas and Texas State. The Texans signed him in 2024, and he joined Detroit that same year. In his debut season, Bates recorded 142 points scored, establishing a franchise record and tying the fourth-most in an NFL player's first season. He made 19 consecutive field goals to start his career, the second-longest such streak in NFL history, and connected on four-of-four attempts with five-of-five extra points in Week 6 against Dallas. Bates earned NFC Special Teams Player of the Month (November 2024) and two Player of the Week honors.
