Bonitto played college football at Oklahoma from 2018–21, appearing in 39 games with 117 tackles and 18.5 sacks. Denver selected him in the second round (64th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. Through four seasons with the Broncos, he has appeared in 47 games (20 starts) and recorded 91 tackles, 23.0 sacks, one interception, and six passes defensed. In 2024, Bonitto earned his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro Second Team honors after tallying 48 tackles and 13.5 sacks—the most sacks by any Bronco since 2018. He also recorded two defensive touchdowns that season: a 71-yard interception return and a 50-yard fumble recovery return.
