Maxwell Woods is a running back from Carver, Minnesota, who attended Chanhassen High School before playing at South Dakota State. He redshirted as a freshman in 2024, appearing in seven games and rushing for 176 yards with one touchdown on 29 carries while averaging 6.1 yards per attempt. Woods transferred to Washington State and enrolled in January 2025. In his first season with the Cougars, he appeared in 12 games with one start, rushing 36 times for 225 yards and a long of 48, averaging 6.3 yards per carry. He caught 18 passes for 148 yards with a long reception of 33 yards. In the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl win over Utah State, Woods made his first career start and rushed for 117 yards on nine carries while adding three catches for 35 yards.
