A three-star recruit from Notre Dame High School in Simi Valley, California, he was ranked the No. 26 dual-threat quarterback in the 2025 class by national outlets. During his senior year, he completed 183 of 301 passes for 2,610 yards and 29 touchdowns while rushing for 1,040 yards and eight touchdowns. Pizzella made his collegiate debut in the win over Oregon State on October 11, 2025, appearing in one game before redshirting the season.
