Tyrell Simpson is a true freshman offensive lineman at Virginia Tech standing 6'7" and weighing 354 pounds. The Leland, North Carolina native played varsity football at North Brunswick High School under head coach Bryan Davis, where he recorded 16 pancake blocks during his junior season. That year, his offensive line unit averaged 360 yards per game. Simpson also saw time on defense as a defensive end, averaging 0.4 tackles per play with five career sacks and 14 quarterback hurries. He missed his senior season in 2025. A three-star recruit, Simpson was ranked as the nation's No. 84 overall offensive tackle by recruiting services and earned recognition as the No. 4 overall offensive lineman from North Carolina in that service's rankings.
