Garrett Witherington is a true freshman defensive lineman at Virginia Tech standing 6'3" and weighing 305 pounds. The Birmingham, Alabama native and Briarwood Christian product was a four-year starter on the defensive line who recorded 148 tackles over his high school career, including 15 sacks and 29 tackles for loss, which stands as an all-time school record. As a junior, he posted 55 tackles with 13 tackles for loss and four sacks. Witherington suffered an injury midway through his senior season but helped lead the Lions to the AHSAA Class 5A state quarterfinals.
