Dontae Carter is a 6'1", 196-pound free safety for Vanderbilt who was a four-star prospect ranked 166th overall in the 2024 class. As a freshman in 2024, he appeared in all 13 games and recorded 11 tackles along with two pass breakups, including a tackle in his collegiate debut against Virginia Tech. In his sophomore season (2025), Carter played in all 13 games, amassing 33 total tackles with a season-high six in the Missouri victory. He also returned two kickoffs for 39 yards, including a 21-yard return, and recorded one pass defensed. Carter hails from Byron P. Steele High School in Cibolo, Texas.
