Jaylen Thompson is a 6'2", 210-pound safety from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, who attended Riverdale High School. As a senior, he earned Region 3-6A Defensive MVP honors after tallying 57 tackles, six interceptions, four pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries. He also contributed 18 receptions for 173 yards and two touchdowns as a receiver. Thompson initially committed to Michigan State, where he appeared in six games as a true freshman in 2024, starting the final three contests against Illinois, Purdue, and Rutgers. He compiled 17 tackles, one pass breakup, and 162 defensive snaps in his freshman season. Thompson transferred to Memphis in 2025 but did not see action. He now joins UAB as a transfer.
