Ike Esonwune is a weakside linebacker from Manor, Texas, who transferred to UAB after three seasons at Oklahoma State. At Manor High School, he recorded 67 tackles as a senior, including 11 for loss and two sacks, earning first-team all-district honors alongside two interceptions and three pass breakups. He redshirted in 2023, then appeared in 10 games in 2024 and 12 games in 2025 for the Cowboys. During the 2025 season, Esonwune tallied 31 tackles with 11 solo, added two pass breakups and two quarterback hurries, and recovered a fumble. He earned Academic All-Big 12 honors both years.
