Jamarcea Plater is a true freshman running back for Tulsa standing 5'9" and weighing 190 pounds. A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, he attended Captain Shreve High School, where he was a three-star recruit ranked 603rd nationally. As a junior, Plater rushed for 2,234 yards and 29 touchdowns while averaging 10.1 yards per carry, establishing a school record. His senior season saw 1,657 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns at 9.0 yards per carry. He also caught 23 passes for 258 yards with three receiving touchdowns. Originally playing cornerback his first two years, Plater transitioned to running back and ranked 17th among Louisiana high school running backs. He competed in track, posting a 100-meter time of 10.7 seconds as a junior.
