DJ McKinney is a running back from Tulsa, Oklahoma who lettered four seasons at Union High School, accumulating 2,369 career rushing yards with 33 touchdowns. He began his college career at Sam Houston, where he redshirted before playing 13 games with seven starts in 2024, earning Conference USA Freshman of the Year honors after rushing for 481 yards on 97 carries with three touchdowns. McKinney transferred to New Mexico for the 2025 season, appearing in 13 games including the Rate Bowl.
