As a senior, Richter earned region Offensive Player of the Year honors after throwing for 3,241 yards and 34 touchdowns while leading his team to a 10-3 record and a 7-0 conference mark. He redshirted in 2022, then appeared in one game in 2023 against Texas Southern, completing 3-of-4 passes for 49 yards. During the 2024 season, Richter made his first career start at Northern Illinois, throwing for 152 yards and one touchdown on 15-of-28 passing in a 13-6 victory.
