Samari Matthews is a true freshman left cornerback for Texas, standing 6'1" and weighing 197 pounds. From Charlotte, North Carolina, Matthews attended Hough High School, where he earned four-star status from major recruiting outlets and ranked No. 11 among cornerback recruits nationally. As a senior, he recorded 33 tackles with 21 solo, one tackle for loss, one interception and one fumble recovery. Matthews was named North Carolina Mr. Football as a senior, the first defensive player to receive the honor. He early enrolled with the Longhorns in spring 2026 and wears No. 11.
