A three-star recruit ranked No. 603 overall in the 2026 class, Cummings was listed as the No. 37 linebacker recruit by recruiting services, No. 53 by Rivals, and No. 62 by national outlets. In his senior season at Carlsbad High School, he recorded 29 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one pass break-up. As a junior, he logged 29 tackles (23 solo), 4.5 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, three quarterback hurries, one pass defended, and one forced fumble.
