Jelani McDonald is a 6'2", 200-pound safety from Waco, Texas, who attended Connally High School. A four-year defensive back, McDonald has appeared in 39 games with 17 starts for the Texas Longhorns. Originally recruited as a quarterback, he has played across multiple positions. In 2025, his junior year, McDonald started all 13 games and compiled 80 total tackles, including 49 solo tackles, four tackles for loss, three interceptions (27 yards returned), three pass breakups, and one fumble recovery. He earned 2026 Phil Steele preseason Second-Team SEC and Third-Team All-America selections. McDonald currently holds senior status heading into the 2026 season.
